Sonic Runway, the first art installation in San Jose’s Playa to the Paseo partnership with Burning Man, will end its wildly popular four-month run at City Hall on March 9. We’ll certainly miss it, as the brilliantly fun set of lighted arches provided nightly entertainment for downtown visitors, who could be found experiencing its sights and sounds right up to midnight. The piece by artists Warren Trezevant and Rob Jensen isn’t going out quietly, though. The closing night will feature a fashion show, with models walking the runway, a trunk show featuring Bay Area designers in the rotunda and a lot of music.

Like the Musical Swings that made such a big splash at Plaza de Cesar Chavez a ballet pink satin ballet slippers adult sizes full sole or split sole couple of years ago, lots of people have wondered why San Jose can’t keep Sonic Runway permanently, As Kerry Adams-Hapner, San Jose’s director of cultural affairs told me, the whole idea behind Playa to the Paseo has always been to showcase different art pieces that have the same tech-minded, innovative DNA, In other words, if you liked Sonic Runway, you should like what comes next, And there are two new pieces in the pipeline (and I’ve heard rumblings about a Sonic Runway return visit in the future, too)..
